This paper first examines the social and cultural impacts of engineering demolition across five dimensions: waste pollution from construction debris, dust pollution affecting air quality and health, noise pollution disrupting daily life, safety hazards like accidents and social instability, and loss of cultural value through heritage erosion. It then details the demolition reasons of 20 "short-lived buildings" (demolished before half their designed lifespan) via cases, explores these buildings' social effects and root causes, and concludes with targeted reflections and countermeasures.
