As an important carrier of China's regional development policy, national-level new areas have attracted much attention for their role in promoting industrial development and urban construction. This paper employs the difference-in-differences (DID) method to empirically examine how newly established national-level zones influence industrial-urban integration, using data from periods before and after their establishment. The study found that the establishment of new national-level zones has facilitated the integrated development of industries and urban areas, but there is heterogeneity in policy effects across different regions and industrial sectors. The research conclusions have important reference value for the formulation of future national-level new area policies.
